Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful, evidence-based approach to healing that recognises we are not one-dimensional beings, we are made up of many different “parts.” These parts hold our stories, our protectors, our pain, our brilliance. Some parts push us to achieve. Others carry our self-doubt. Some are stuck in the past, while others are trying to manage the present. IFS gives us a compassionate way to meet these parts, not to get rid of them, but to understand them, and invite them back into harmony.
At the core of this model is the belief that we each have an undamaged, unshakeable Self, a deeper, wiser presence within us that is inherently calm, clear, compassionate, and capable. When we learn to lead our internal system from this Self energy, rather than from our protective patterns, everything shifts. We stop managing our pain and start relating to it.
